Strategy before the camera

Many corporate videos look incredible, but don't fulfill a strategic function.

Every year, hundreds of organizations in Mexico invest in video production without first answering a simple question: what does the audience need to understand from your video?

Answering this question is what makes talking about shots, locations or editing actually productive. Skipping this step is the number one reason a video with good cinematography, good music and excellent editing ends up having no real effect on how the audience perceives the organization.

Strategy isn't an extra step before production. It's the filter that decides what is worth producing.

When an organization comes to us with a script already written, we almost always find the same pattern: the script describes what the organization wants to say about itself, not what the audience needs to hear in order to change its mind. Those are different things, and the difference is exactly where the strategic work lives.

This doesn't mean production matters less. It means production without strategy is a blind expense: the same crew is mobilized and the same budget is spent, but without getting the message to actually connect with the audience.

The cost of skipping strategy isn't visible on shoot day. It shows up six months later, when the video is already on every channel and it doesn't deliver the expected results.
